Chad Papa
Tackling the global climate crisis requires practitioners trained in forest carbon science, management, and policy as well as those with the ability to properly communicate science across audiences. Drawing from the expertise of Michigan State University’s Forest Carbon and Climate Program (FCCP), researcher Chad Papa will explore initiatives and approaches designed to communicate the complex relationships between forests, carbon, and climate, bridging the dialogue gap between landowners, policymakers, scientists, and managers. Examples will include novel science-aligned, data-driven forest and climate visualization tools, accessible formal and information education programs, as well as other lessons learned from FCCP’s science communication initiatives that leverage the power of forests to help achieve net-zero emission targets.
